Why you can trust 01 OneFiler
Nothing to pay upfront
Work through every step and see your finished return before you are asked for a card.
A UK company
A trading name of Light and Dark Energy Ltd, registered in England & Wales, No. 15095270.
Your data stays protected
Servers in a London datacenter, filing data encrypted at rest, and payments handled by Stripe.
Credentials are not kept
Your Government Gateway password is never stored in plain text. It is deleted as soon as HMRC returns a final result for your return, and within 24 hours in any case.
Yes — you can do this yourself
The four questions every director asks, answered straight.
“Am I even allowed to?”
Yes. Nothing requires a company to file through an accountant, and most micro-entity returns are simple enough to do yourself.
“What if I get it wrong?”
You review the finished return before anything is sent, and HMRC’s reply comes straight back to your dashboard. A rejected return can be corrected and sent again at no extra cost.
“Isn’t there a technical bit I cannot do?”
The technical bit is iXBRL, and you never touch it — it is generated from the figures you type in.
“Why not use HMRC’s free service?”
It closed on 31 March 2026. Filing now needs commercial software, and this is the cheap end of it — £19 for a dormant company, £39 for a single filing.

Frequently asked questions
Everything directors ask before filing themselves
Do I need an accountant to file my Corporation Tax return?
Not necessarily. If your company is a micro-entity with straightforward figures, you can prepare and file everything yourself with OneFiler — the tax return, the accounts and the tax computation. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the figures, so if your situation is more complex, we recommend speaking to an accountant.
Is OneFiler recognised by HMRC?
Yes. OneFiler is HMRC-recognised software for Company Tax Return filing, and files directly through HMRC’s gateway. Recognition means HMRC has confirmed the software can file returns in the required format — it is not an endorsement of any provider over another.
Is my company a micro-entity?
Your company is a micro-entity if it meets at least two of these three conditions: turnover of £1 million or less, total assets of £500,000 or less, and 10 or fewer employees on average. (These are the limits for financial years starting on or after 6 April 2025.) The company must also be a UK company — certain types, such as financial firms and charities, cannot use the micro-entity rules.
My company is dormant — can I use OneFiler?
Yes — dormant companies are fully supported, with a reduced price for dormant filings. You can prepare and submit a dormant Company Tax Return to HMRC and dormant accounts to Companies House in a few minutes.
Does it file to Companies House as well as HMRC?
Yes, both. OneFiler prepares your accounts for Companies House and your Company Tax Return and tax computation for HMRC, and submits both as part of the same process.
What do I need to get started?
Your company details and registration number, your Corporation Tax reference (UTR), your Government Gateway login for the company, and your year-end figures. If your bookkeeping is in QuickBooks or Xero, you can import the figures rather than entering them manually.
What is iXBRL, and do I need to deal with it?
No — that part is handled for you. iXBRL is the digital format HMRC and Companies House require for accounts and tax computations. OneFiler generates it automatically from your figures, so you never work with it directly.
What happens if HMRC rejects my return?
You can see the status of every submission, including any HMRC response, in your dashboard. If a return is rejected, you can correct it and resubmit. Monitoring your submissions and meeting your deadlines remain your responsibility.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Our application servers are hosted in a UK datacenter (London), and your filing data is stored encrypted in the EU. Your Government Gateway credentials are never stored in plain text, and your HMRC password is deleted as soon as your submission completes. If you connect QuickBooks or Xero, access is granted securely and revoked as soon as your import finishes.
Which accounting standard does it use?
FRS 105 — the accounting standard for micro-entity accounts. OneFiler is built specifically for FRS 105 micro-entity filings.
What if I’m claiming R&D relief, or my company is non-resident?
Those cases are not supported. OneFiler covers straightforward FRS 105 micro-entity returns only — it does not handle Research and Development claims, creative-industry credits, directors’ loans that need the supplementary CT600A pages, or non-resident companies. For any of those, you will need other software or an accountant.
When are my filings due?
Your Company Tax Return is normally due 12 months after the end of your accounting period. The Corporation Tax itself is usually due earlier — 9 months and one day after the period ends — and your accounts are due at Companies House 9 months after the period ends. Late filing can lead to penalties, so we recommend filing well before the deadline.
Is there a subscription?
No. Every plan is a one-off payment. Pay per filing, or buy the £99 Portfolio if you run up to three companies — there is nothing to cancel and nothing renews.
